Zaleka be-anna Allaha huwa alhaqquo wa anna ma yad-uona men duonehi albateluo wa anna Allaha huwa Alaliyyu Alkabeer (30).
That is because Allah is the truth, and what they call besides Him is the falsehood, and that Allah is the Most High, the Most Grand.

Alam tara anna alfulka tajree fee albahri bene'mati ellahi le-youreiyakum men ayatehi inna fee zaleka la-ayatin le-kulli sabbarin shakuor (31).
Do you not see that the ships sail through the sea by the grace of Allah so that He may show you of His signs, indeed, in that there are signs for everyone patient, grateful.

Wa iza ghasheiyahum mawjun ka-alzulali da'awuo Allaha mukhlessena lahuo aldeena fa-lamma najjahum ela albarri fa-menhum muqtasedun wa ma yajhaduo be-ayatena ella kulluo khattarin kafuor (32).
And when the waves covers them like shadows, they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in religion, but when He rescued them to the land, then among them is he who is moderate, and none rejects Our signs except every treacherous, ungrateful.

Ya-ayyuha alnasuo ettaquo rabbakum wa-khshaww yawman la yajzee waleedun an waladehi wa la mawludun huwa jazin an waledehi shaiy-an inna wa'da Allahi haqqun fa-la taghurrannakumuo alhayatuo alduonya wa la yaghurrannakum bellahi algharuor (33).
O mankind! Fear your Lord and fear a day when a father will not avail his son, nor will a son avail his father in anything, indeed, the promise of Allah is true, so Let not the worldly life deceive you and Let not the deceiver deceive you about Allah

Indeed, Allah with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, and He sends down the rain, and knows what is in the wombs, and no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in which land it will die, indeed, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware.

Simplified interpretation:

Surat Luqman begins with three letters of the Arabic language, just like 28 Surahs of the Holy Quran that start with individual letters ranging from one to five letters. It is noticeable that in all 29 Surahs the book or the Holy Quran is mentioned whether it is immediately after these letters or it is included in the Surah or even at the end of it. It is a challenge from Allah, Almighty, to the infidels of Quraish, as if Allah says to them this is the book in the letters of the language you speak, but you will not be able to produce the like of it, and He has already challenged them in Aya (88) of Surat Alisraa "Say, if mankind and the Jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants". As for the current Surah, it begins with three letters "Alif, Lam, and Meem" or "A, L, and M" in English followed by "These are verses of the wise book, a guidance and a mercy for the good doers", but the knowledge of these letters remains with Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

Allah says in the first five verses (1-5) "Alif Lam Meem, these are verses of the wise book, a guidance and a mercy for the good doers, those who establish the prayer and give the Zakah and they are certain of the Hereafter, those are on guidance from their Lord, and those are the successful", that is, Allah confirms that these are the verses of the wise Quran whose rulings and arguments are decisive and falsehood does not reach it, and Allah has made the Holy Quran a guidance and a mercy for the good doers who worship Allah as if they see Him, and if they can not see Him, then Allah sees them, so they act according to Allah's commands and prohibitions, they establish the obligatory prayers in its prescribed times, they give the obligatory charity (Zakah), and they are certain of the Hereafter and the meeting of Allah, and believe in Allah's reward for those who obey Him, and His recompense for those who disobey Him, and those who adhere to do so, then those are on guidance, insight, and clear approach from Allah, and those are the successful ones in the worldly life and in the Hereafter.

Allah says in the next two verses (6,7) "And of the people is he who purchases the amusement of speech so that he leads astray from the way of Allah without knowledge, and takes it in ridicule, those for them a humiliating punishment, and when Our verses are recited to him, he turns away in arrogance as if he had not heard them as if in his ears is deafness, so give him tidings of painful torment", that is, in contrast to the successful ones who are guided by the Holy Quran and act according to it, Allah describes the condition of the wretched one who buys and prefers the amusement of speech and falsehood instead of the speech of truth as he turns to listening every speech that distracts from the way of Allah whether it is the speech of disbelief, falsehood, singing with melodies and musical instruments, or all other distractions, and he does that in order to mislead others from the way of Allah out of his ignorance of the consequence of his deeds, and he takes the way of Allah in ridicule, so Allah threatens him with the humiliating punishment in the Hellfire in the Hereafter. He deserves the humiliating punishment because he prefers the amusement of the speech over the path of Allah, so when Allah's verses are recited to him, he turns away from it arrogantly as if he did not hear them as if in his hear is deafness, and he has no deafness but he can not hear it and he is harmed by hearing it, so he has no benefit from it, so Allah commanded His Messenger to give him the tidings of painful torment in the Hereafter.

Allah says in the next two verses (8,9) "Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them are the gardens of bliss, abiding therein forever, the promise of Allah is true, and He is the Almighty, All-Wise", that is, those who believe in Allah, His books, and His Messenger, and do righteous deeds, they will have gardens of bliss in which they will enjoy all kinds of pleasures such as food, drink, clothes, houses, and other pleasures, and they will abide therein forever, and the promise of Allah is true and will inevitably happen, and Allah is the All-Mighty who is Severe in His revenge on those who disobeyed Him, and He is All-Wise who manages His creation with wisdom in His laws and destiny.

Allah says in the next two verses (10,11) "He created the heavens without pillars that you can see, and He cast in the earth firm mountains lest it shakes with you, and He dispersed in it from every moving creature, and We sent down water from the sky, then We caused to grow therein of every noble pair, this is the creation of Allah, so show Me what those besides Him have created, but the wrongdoers are in clear error", that is, Allah confirms the greatness of His creation as He is the Creator of everything and there in no creator other than Him, where He created the heavens without pillars that mankind can see, He cast in the earth firm mountains lest it shakes with its people, He dispersed in the earth from every creature that moves on the earth including animals, birds, beasts, insects and what is in the sea of various kinds, and Allah sent down water from the sky, then He made to grow in the earth of every noble pair of all crops, fruits, and plants. So the creation of the heavens, the earth, and what Allah dispersed in both of them of a moving creature are of Allah's signs as mentioned in Aya (29) of Surat Alshura, thereupon, Allah says to the polytheists show Me what those whom you worship besides Him have created, unquestionably, the idols whom the polytheists invoke besides Allah do not possess anything, and they are not able to create anything even the crust of a date-seed as Allah has stated in Aya (13) of Surat Fatir, so the wrongdoers who associate other gods with Allah are in clear error as these idols will not benefit them nor will avail them from Allah's punishment on the day of resurrection.

Allah says in the next two verses (12,13) "And indeed We gave Luqman the wisdom that Give thanks to Allah and whoever gives thanks, then he only gives thanks for himself, and whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is Fee of need, Praiseworthy, and when Luqman said to his son while he was admonishing him, O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah, indeed, the polytheism is a great injustice", that is, Luqman was one of Allah's righteous servants, and Allah gave him the wisdom, knowledge, insight, and jurisprudence in the religion, so Allah commanded him to give thanks for what Allah has bestowed upon him and endowed him with the bounty that He singled out for him over all the people of his time, then Allah assures that whoever gives thanks, then he only gives thanks for himself; Because the benefit and reward of gratitude is for himself only, and whoever disbelieves in Allah, is ungrateful, and denies that He is the One who bestows His blessings upon him, then this will not harm Allah at all for all human beings need their Lord for He is the Creator and the Provider while He is Free of need of them, and He is the Praiseworthy of all what He decrees. Luqman admonished his son and commanded him to worship Allah alone, and not to associate any partners with Him, and he said to him that the polytheism is a great wrongdoing and injustice, and as narrated by Abdullah Bin Mas'ud: "When Allah has revealed to His Messenger Aya (82) of Surat Alana'am "It is those who believe and confound not their belief with wrongdoing'', the companions of Allah's Messenger were greatly perturbed, they said: Who among us that he does not wrong himself?, upon this Allah's Messenger remarked: It does not mean that which you presume, it implies that which Luqman said to his son ''O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah, indeed, the polytheism is a great injustice".

Allah says in the next two verses (14,15) "And We have enjoined upon man for his parents, his mother carried him in weakness upon weakness and his weaning is in two years that Give thanks to Me and to your parents, to Me is the final return, and if they strive against you to associate with Me what you have not any knowledge of it, then Do not obey them, and Accompany them in the worldly life with kindness, and Follow the way of he who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, them I will inform you of what you used to do", that is, Allah commanded man to obey his parents for his mother endured hardship in pregnancy and carried him in weakness upon weakness, and suffered from hardship and pain of childbirth, then she took care of his upbringing and breast-feeding after his birth in two years if he wishes to complete the suckling period as Allah has stated in Aya (233) of Surat Albaqarah, so Allah reminds man of his mother's kindness to him when he was young, and what she endured of fatigue, hardship, and staying up late night in order to do good to her as she did to him, and as narrated by Abu Hurayrah: "A man came to Allah's Messenger and said O Allah's Messenger! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me? the Prophet said your mother, the man said who is next? the Prophet said your mother, the man said who is next? the Prophet said your mother, the man asked who is next? the Prophet said your father", thereupon, Allah's Messenger commanded man to be kind to his mother three times, and to his father in the fourth time. Then Allah commanded man to give thanks to Him for the blessings he has bestowed upon him and to give thanks to his parents for raising him, and to Allah is the final return on the day of resurrection, so He will recompense every man for what he used to do in the worldly life. Obedience to parent is obligatory but it is not absolute for Allah says if they strive against man and forced Him to associate partners and idols with Allah, then he should not obey them, but he should accompany them in the worldly life with kindness and help them when needed, then Allah commanded him to follow the path of the one who turned to Allah, repented from polytheism, and followed Allah's Messenger, and to Allah is the final return of mankind on the day of resurrection, then He will inform them of what they used to do in the worldly life, and this Aya is similar to Aya (8) of Surat Alankaboot.

Allah says in the next two verses (16,17) "O my son! indeed, if it be the weight of a grain of mustard, and it be in a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth, indeed, Allah is All-Subtle, All-Aware, O My son! Establish the prayer and Enjoin the right and Forbid the wrong and Be patient over what befalls you, indeed, that is from the determination of matters", that is, Allah cites the useful commandments of Luqman to His son so that people may follow it as Luqman reminded his son of Allah's ability and knowledge that encompass whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and nothing is forbidden from him, so Luqman said to his son if man's deed of obedience or disobedience was the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and it was in a rock, in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth on the day of resurrection, then He will recompense every man for His deeds, so whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it as mentioned in Ayat (7,8) of  Surat Alzalzalah, and Allah is All-Subtle in what He wills; For if He decrees a matter, He places reasons for it, and facilitates it, All-Aware whose ability and knowledge encompass everything, and He is Able to extract the grain wherever it is located. Then Luqman commanded his son to establish the prayer, to enjoin the right by inviting the people to worship Allah alone and to act in obedience to Him, and forbid from the wrong by forbidding them from associating partners with Allah, and acting in disobedience to Him, and to be patient over what befalls him; because he knew that the one who enjoins the right and forbids evil will be harmed by his people, so He ordered him to be patient as patience over people's harm is from the determination of the matters for Allah commanded His Messenger Muhammad (PBUH) to be patient over the harm of His people as those of determination of the Messengers had patience as mentioned in Aya (35) of  Surat Alahqaf.

Allah says in the next two verses (18,19) "And Do not turn you cheek away from people, and Do not walk in the earth exultantly, indeed, Allah does not like every proud, boaster, and Be moderate in your walk and Lower of your voice, indeed, the ugliest of voices is the voice of the donkeys", that is, Luqman continued to admonish his son and said to Him do not turn your face away from people when you speak to them or they speak to you out of contempt and arrogance towards them, and do not walk in the earth haughtily and arrogantly for Allah does not like every proud who admires himself, every boaster who boasts on people of what Allah has given him, and does not offer gratitude to Him. Then Luqman commanded his son not to walk slowly or fast but to be moderate in his walk, and to lower his voice because the ugliest voices is the voice of the donkeys, thereupon, raising your voice is not a sign of your strength but it is hated by Allah, and Allah's Messenger said in narration of Abu Hurayrah: ''When you hear the crowing of roosters, ask for Allah's blessings for they have seen an Angel, and when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek refuge in Allah from Satan for they have seen a Satan".

Allah says in the next two verses (20,21) "Do you not see that Allah has subjected for you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and has bestowed His blessings upon you, both apparent and hidden?, but of the people is he who argues about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book, and when it is said to them Follow what Allah has revealed, they say but we will follow that upon which we found our fathers, even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?", that is, Allah reminds man of His blessings upon him as He has subjected whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth from the sun, moon, stars, trees, animals, mountains, and many others to serve man, and Allah has perfected His blessings for man whether it is apparent blessing that he can see with his eyes or it is hidden from him, despite all these blessings, not all people believe, rather some of them disputed about Allah's oneness without knowledge, a guidance, a clear argument nor an enlightening book from Allah that proves what they say. And when it is said to those who argue about Allah follow what Allah has revealed to His Messenger, they say but will follow the religion of our forefathers, they thought that their forefather were upon guidance but they were not, they just follow Satan who invites them to punishment of the Blaze on the day of resurrection.

Allah says in the next three verses (22-24) "And whoever submits his face to Allah and he is a good doer, then indeed, he holds on to the strongest bond, and to Allah is the end of the matters, and whoever disbelieves, so let not his disbelief grieve You, to Us is their return then We will inform them of what they did, indeed, Allah is All-Knower of what is in the breasts, We let them enjoy, a little, then We will force them to a severe punishment", that is, whoever sincerely worships Allah, submits his face to Him, and he is a good doer who worships Allah as if he sees Him, and if he can not see Him, then Allah sees him, so he acts according Allah's commands and prohibitions, then he holds on to the strongest bond from Allah as he will be safe from Allah's punishment, and to Allah is the end of all matters on the day of resurrection, but as for whoever disbelieves, Allah commanded His Messenger not to grieve over his disbelief for to Allah is their return in the Hereafter, then He will inform them of what they used to do in the worldly life of evil deeds where He is All-Knower of everything where nothing is hidden from Him even the secrets that the breasts conceal. Allah just will let them enjoy a little in the worldly life to the end of their life, then He will force them to a severe punishment in the Hellfire.

Allah says in the next two verses (25,26) "And If You ask them Who created the heavens and the earth, they would say, Allah, Say, praise be to Allah, but most of them do not know, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, indeed, Allah is Free of need, Praiseworthy", that is, if Allah's Messenger asked the polytheists, Who created the heavens and the earth, they would acknowledge that Allah created them, so praise be to Allah but most of them do not know and yet they worship other than Him while whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah alone and He is the Creator and the Provider, so if they all disbelieve, then He is Free of need of them, and He is the Praiseworthy of all what He decrees.

Allah says in the next two verses (27,28) "And if whatever is on the earth of trees were pens and the sea is supported by seven seas following it, the word of Allah would not have been exhausted, indeed, Allah is Almighty, All-Wise, your creation and your resurrection is nothing but as a single soul, indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing", that is, if all the trees of the earth were made as pens, and the sea was made into ink, and extended by seven seas with it and the words of Allah were written in them indicating His greatness, power, and majesty, the pens and the water would run out while the words of Allah would not have been exhausted even if the likes of the pens and the water came as supplement, and Allah is the All-Mighty who is Severe in His revenge on those who disobeyed Him, and He is All-Wise who manages His creation with wisdom in His laws and destiny. Then Allah assures that the creation of man and the resurrection of him on the day of resurrection is nothing but as the creation of a single soul and the resurrection of a single soul and it is easy for Him, and Allah is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing whose hearing and sight encompass everything, and nothing in the heavens nor on the earth is hidden from Him.

Allah says in the next two verses (29,30) "Do you not see that Allah enters the night into the day and enters the day into the night, and He has subjected the sun and the moon, each running for an appointed time, and that Allah is All-Aware of what you do, that is because Allah is the truth, and what they call besides Him is the falsehood, and that Allah is the Most High, the Most Grand", that is, Allah enters the missing hours of the night into the day, so it become an increase in the hours of the day, and He enters the missing hours of the day into the night, so it become an increase in the hours of the night, therefore, sometimes the night is long and the day is short, sometimes vise versa , and sometimes they are equal. As a result, the four seasons of the year are determined which are winter, spring, summer, and autumn. And Allah has subjected the sun and the moon for sunrise and sunset, each running for an appointed term which is the day of resurrection, and that Allah is All-Aware of your deeds and nothing of which is hidden from Him whether good or evil, and these signs indicate Allah's greatness and power, and that He is Able to do whatever He will because He is the truth, and the idols whom they invoke besides Him are nothing but a falsehood and they do not possess anything in the heavens nor on the earth, and Allah is the Most High, the Most Grand who is sublime over everything, and all things are below Him where His authority and His power is over them.

Allah says in the next two verses (31,32) "Do you not see that the ships sail through the sea by the grace of Allah so that He may show you of His signs, indeed, in that there are signs for everyone patient, grateful, and when the waves covers them like shadows, they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in religion, but when He rescued them to the land, then among them is he who is moderate, and none rejects Our signs except every treacherous, ungrateful", that is, Allah has made the sea subservient for man by making it carries ships upon it, and if were not for the grace of Allah, the sea would not carry the ships on its surface, so Allah may show man of His signs, and in that are lessons for every patient, grateful, for he must be thankful for Allah's blessings when He bestowed upon him, and must be patient with the trial if Allah tried him with a calamity, where as narrated by Suhaib that Allah's Messenger said: "How amazing is the matter of the believer that his affairs are all good, and that is not for anyone except for the believer, if he was bestowed with a blessing, he thanks, and this is good for him, and if a calamity befell him, he was patient, and that is good for him" (Sahih Muslim 2999). When they ride on ships and the waves cover them and rise like shadows above them, they call upon Allah alone, being sincere to Him in religion, and not associating anything with Him, but when He saved them from drowning and perishing at sea and brought them safely to the land, they did not thank Allah as He should be thanked, so among them is he who is moderate in worship and fulfilled his covenant with Allah, and among them is he who forgot what he used to call him before, and this is the condition of the disbeliever with His Lord as mentioned in Aya (8) of Surat Alzumar, so none rejects Allah's signs except every treacherous who breaks his covenant with Allah, ungrateful for the the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon him, rather he forgets them and does not remember them.

Allah says in the next verse (33) "O mankind! Fear your Lord and fear a day when a father will not avail his son, nor will a son avail his father in anything, indeed, the promise of Allah is true, so Let not the worldly life deceive you and Let not the deceiver deceive you about Allah", that is, Allah commanded mankind to fear Him and the day of resurrection and He warns them of the day of resurrection when a father will not avail his son from the punishment nor will a son avail his father from the punishment as man will flee from his brother, his mother, his father, his wife, and his children as Allah has stated in Ayat (34-36) of Surat Abasa, then Allah assures that the day of resurrection is true, so Let not the worldly life deceive you with its falsehoods, illusions and enjoyments, and Let not Satan deceive and tempt you from believing in Allah and from following His Messenger for Satan is an enemy to mankind, so Allah commanded mankind to take him as an enemy as mentioned in Aya (6) of Surat Fatir.

Allah says in the last verse (34) "Indeed, Allah with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, and He sends down the rain, and knows what is in the wombs, and no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in which land it will die, indeed, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware", that is, Allah cites the five keys of the unseen that Allah only knows, where as narrated by Abdullah bin Umar: "The prophet said the keys of the unseen are five, and then he recited "Indeed, Allah with Him is the knowledge of the Hour", so the first key of the unseen is the knowledge of the Hour as no one except Allah knows when the day of resurrection will be established, in any year, in any month, by night, or by day, and as narrated by Abu Hurayrah: "One day while Allah's Messenger (PBUH) was sitting with the people, a man came to Him walking and said: O Allah's Messenger! What is belief?, the Prophet said: belief is to believe in Allah, His Angels, His books, His Messengers, and the meeting with Him, and to believe in the resurrection, the man asked O Allah's Messenger! What is Islam? the Prophet said Islam is to worship Allah and not worship anything besides Him, to establish the prayer, to give obligatory Zakah, and to fast the month of Ramadan. The man asked O Allah's Messenger! What is Ihsan (benevolence)? the Prophet said Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then Allah sees you, the man asked O Allah's Messenger! When will the Hour be established? the Prophet said the One who is asked about it does not know more than the questioner does, but I will describe to you its portents, when the lady slave gives birth to her paramour, that will be of its portents, when the bare-footed naked people become the chiefs of the people, that will be of its portents, the Hour is one of the five things which nobody knows except Allah alone "Indeed, Allah with Him is the knowledge of the Hour, and He sends down the rain, and knows what is in the wombs", the man left, the Prophet said Call him back but could not see him, the Prophet said that was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion".

The second key of the unseen is the rain as Allah only is the One who sends down the rain, and if He prevents the rain from the sky, none of the people can bring it down, and no one knows in which land it will rain, at day or night. Although the meteorologists predict that rain will fall in a specific area, but that is not of the unseen because it is done through satellites that visualize the movement of the clouds and the winds then they predict the rain that Allah has determined before, so the prediction is correct at times and wrong at other times. The third key of the unseen is that Allah only knows what is in the wombs as no one knows what Allah wants to create in the wombs, but when He commands to be a male or a female, a miserable or a happy, the Angel entrusted with that knows, where Allah's Messenger said in narration of Huzaifa Bin Usaid: ''When the semen drop remains in the womb for forty or forty five nights, the Angel comes and says My Lord Will he be good or evil?, and both these things would be written, then the Angel says My Lord Would he be male or female? and both these things are written, and his deeds and actions, his death, his livelihood, these are also recorded, then his document of destiny is rolled and there is no addition to nor subtraction from it" (Sahih Muslim 2644), although modern science is able to know the gender of the fetus, the duration of pregnancy, and the date of birth, but it does not know more than that, and it does know that until after a period of pregnancy up to four months. The fourth key of the unseen is that no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow of good or evil, and the fifth key of the unseen is that no soul knows in which land it will die, in its house or outside, in its own country or any other country, on land or in the sea, no one knows except Allah and as narrated by Matar Bin Ukamis, Allah's Messenger said: "When Allah decrees that a servant is to die in a land, He makes him have some need from it", and Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware whose Ability and knowledge encompass everything.

No one Knows its interpretation except Allah
