The son of Adam curses time
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah may Allah be pleased with him, who said that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: Allah said: sons of Adam inveigh against the vicissitudes of time, and I am time, in My hand is the night and the day.
As the Almighty, is the Ordainer of all things, to inveigh against misfortunes that are part of time is tantamount to inveighing against Him.
It was related by Al-Bukhari, (also by Muslim).
Commentary:
This hadith means that night and day are pure evidence of the existence of Allah, Almighty, for Allah has said to his prophet Muhammad peace be upon him in Surat Alqassas, aya 71: say, have you ever considered that if Allah should make the night continuing upon you forever up-to the day of resurrection, which God other than Allah could bring to you light?, then will you not hear.
On the contrary in the second verse Allah say, have you ever considered that if Allah should make the day continuing upon you forever up-to the day of resurrection, which God other than Allah could bring to you night wherein you have comfort (rest), then will you not see?.
In the two verses Allah has mentioned hearing (then will you not hear?) and seeing (then will you not see?), because the knowledge of humanbeing comes through hearing and seeing, and He let us imagine the life without day (light) or without night. If it was day forever or night for ever, it will be harmful for our bodies, for the benefits of day are well known for us, but the only benefit of the night is to rest from work and activity that has been done during daylight.
