Simplified interpretation:
Surat Alhaqqah carries news about the torment that Allah had inflicted on the previous nations, and it also carries some scenes of the day of resurrection which was mentioned therein by three names: Alhaqqah, Alqari'ah, and Alwaqi'ah. Then Allah describes the companions of the right and the bliss they will find with their Lord, and the companions of the left and the torment that awaits them, then He assures that the Holy Quran is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds, and the Prophet Muhammad is not able to distort it, and if He did that, Allah would have hastened the torment for Him.
Alhaqqah is one of the names of the day of resurrection, and it was called by this name because it will inevitably happen and it will defeat the infidels with the truth, so the second and the third verses comes to confirm how it is very terrible, by the question form in both verses, as if Allah says to us How very terrible it is, and as if He says to His Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) what will make you know how very severe and destructive Alhaqqah is.
And Allah says in the next nine verses (4-12) "Thamud and Ad denied Alqari'ah, so as for Thamud, they were destroyed by overpowering blast, and as for Ad, they were destroyed by screaming violent wind, which He imposed it upon them seven nights and eight days, consecutive, so You would see the people therein fallen down as if they were hollow trunks of palm-trees, then do You see any remains of them?, and Pharaoh, and those before him, and the overturned cities came with sin, and they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so he seized them with a severe seizure, Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the sailing ship, that We might make it a reminder for you, and that a conscious ear may understand it", where Allah narrates the stories of four previous nations, and the torment that He inflicted upon them to be a reminder for those who give reason and understand.
Allah says that Thamud "the people of the Prophet Saleh" and Ad "the people of the Prophet Hud" had denied Alqari'ah which is one of the names of the day of resurrection as mentioned in Surat Alqari'ah, so Allah destroyed Thamud by the overpowering blast and destroyed Ad by screaming violent wind which He imposed it upon them for a successive seven nights and eight days, it was uninterrupted until it wiped them out so You would see the people therein fallen down as if they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. Then Allah says to His messenger " then do You see any remains of them?", where Allah described that wind in Surat Alahqaf Aya (25) and says "Destroying every thing by command of its Lord, and they became so that nothing was seen of them except their dwellings".
Likewise Allah tormented Pharaoh, those before him, and Allah has destroyed Almu'tafekat, and it means the overturned cities, and they were the people of the Prophet Lot whose cities overturned upon them where Allah had made the highest of it its lowest, and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay as mentioned in Aya (82) of Surat Hud, and Allah has destroyed and punished them with a severe and painful punishment because they came with sin, and denied the Messenger of Allah, then Allah says "Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the sailing ship", where when the Prophet Noah supplicated Allah against His people as mentioned in Aya (26) Surat Nooh, Allah destroyed them by the flood, and saved The Prophet Noah and those with Him from among the believers, and carried them in the sailing ship (Ark), and Allah says ''We carried you" that everyone on the face of the earth is a descendant of Noah's people. And Allah says We make the sailing ship in which We carried you a reminder that is a lesson and an admonition by which you will be admonished, and to fear that you disobey Allah so He will punish you as He tormented those before you, so He says "and that a conscious ear may understand it" where the ear here is a metaphor for the heart because the hearts are aware of what the ears hear of good or evil.
Then Allah describes some scenes of the day of resurrection in the next six verses (13-18) where it will be blown in the trumpet, one blown which means the standing before Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and the earth and the mountains are lifted and then crushed, one crash, where the earth and the mountains will quake, move and disturbs and the mountains will become a heap of sand, as mentioned in Surat Almuzzammil, then that day, Alwaqi'ah shall come to occur, and Alwaqi'ah is one of the names of the day of resurrection, and that day the sky will split up, and it will be frail, and the Angels will be on its edges and this is similar to Aya (25) of Surat Alfurqan "and the day when the sky will split open with emerging clouds, and the Angels will be sent down in successive descent", and on that day, the Throne of our Lord will be carried by eight Angels, and then the reckoning will be established and will not be hidden among of you any secret where nothing of your affairs is hidden from Allah. Accordingly, there will be the companions of Paradise who will take their book in the right hand, and the companions of Hellfire who will take their book in the left hand, and they also described in Surat Alinshiqaq.
As for the companion of Paradise, Allah says about him in the next six verses (19-24) "Then as for he who is given his book in his right hand will say, here, read my book, indeed, I was certain that I will meet my reckoning, so he will be in a pleasant life, In an elevated garden, its clusters of fruit hanging near, eat and drink delightfully for what you did in the past days", that is, he will take his book in his right hand, and will have an easy reckoning. And Our Prophet Muhammad said about that in narration of Ayisha (Radia Allahu anha) "anyone whose account will be taken will be ruined, and when Ayisha said to Him "Does not Allah say Then as for he who is given his book in his right hand, he will be reckoned by an easy reckoning, He said that is only the presentation of the accounts, but he whose record is questioned, will be ruined", and he will say I was certain that I will meet my reckoning so he did righteous deeds for that day, and then he will be in a pleasant life in Paradise whose clusters of fruit hanging near where as mentioned in Surat Alinsan Aya (14) the shades of fruit will be near above them, and whenever they want, the fruits come in compliance close to them, then Allah will say to the companions of Paradise Eat and Drink delightfully for what you did of deeds in the obedience to Allah in the worldly life.
But as for the companion of Hellfire Allah describes him in the next five verses (25-29) "And as for he who is given his book in his left hand will say O! I wish I had not been given my book, and had not known what my reckoning is, O! I wish it had been the end, my wealth had not avail me, my authority had gone from me", that is, he will take his book in the left hand and he will wish that he had not been given his book and had not known what his reckoning is, and he will wish that there was neither life nor resurrection and that the death of the worldly life was the end of everything. And he will say that neither his wealth nor his authority prevented him from Allah's torment since there is no refuge or helper for him from that torment.
So Allah will say to the Angels of the Hellfire as mentioned in Ayat (30-37) "Seize him and shackle him, then burn him in the Hell, then insert him into a chain whose length is seventy cubits, indeed, he was not believe in Allah, the Most Great, and did not urge to feed the needy, so he has not, here today, any devoted friend, and not any food except from ghesleen, none will eat it except the sinners", he will burn in the Hellfire, and he deserved the punishment for he did not believe in Allah and did not fulfill the right of his creator and did not feed the needy and did not urge people to feed him, so he will not find a devoted friend in order to save him from the affliction he is in, and his food will be from ghesleen, and it was said that ghesleen is a tree in the Hellfire, also it was said it is the discharge of their wounds, and none will eat from ghesleen except the sinners who disbelieved in Allah and denied His Messengers.
Then Allah swears in the next two verses (38,39) by the things that they see, and the things that they do not see "But nay! I swear by what you see, and what you do not see", where Quraish believed in the existence of the Jinn and they dealt with them as mentioned in Surat Aljinn. So they accepted the existence of things that they can not see.
The two oaths comes to confirm that the Holy Quran is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds, and it is surely a word of a Noble Messenger (Muhammad PBUH) who they see in front of them, and at the same time it is surely a word of a Noble Messenger (Gabriel) who they can not see, and Allah assures them that it is not a word of accursed Satan whom they believe in as mentioned in Surat Altakwir rather He is a Nobel Angel. So Allah says in the next four verses (40-43) "Verily, it is surely a word of a noble Messenger, and it is not the saying of a poet, little is what you believe, and not the saying of a soothsayer, little is what you be reminded, a revelation from the Lord of the worlds", to refute from His Messenger (Muhammad) the accusation of poetry and the accusation of soothsaying which Quraish accused Him of.
Then Allah says in the next four verses (44-47) "And if He had fabricated against us some sayings, We would have certainly seized Him by the right hand, then, We would have certainly cut off from Him the aorta, and there is none of you from Him prevent it", that is, If Muhammad was as they claim, and He added or decreased from the message or said something from His own and attributed it to Allah, and it is not like that, Allah would hasten the punishment, and seize Him by the right hand, and certainly cut off from Him the aorta as a sign of the severity of the punishment, and none of them can prevent Him from that punishment.
Then Allah says in the last five verses "And indeed, it is surely a reminder for the righteous, and indeed, We surely know that among you are deniers, and indeed, it is surely a regret upon the disbelievers, and indeed, it is the truth of certainty, so glorify the name of Your Lord, the Most Great", that is, the Holy Quran is a reminder for the righteous, and Allah knows that there are those who deny the Holy Quran, so it will be a regret upon the disbelievers, and it is the truth of certainty from the Lord of the worlds in which there is no doubt, so He commanded the believers to glorify the name of their Lord, the One who sent down this great Quran.
