7 short Surahs of the Quran for the beginners
Reciting some verses of the Holy Quran after Surat Alfatihah is a Sunnah in the first two Rak'ahs of every prayer, whether it is a loud or silent prayer, and the companions of Allah's Messenger (PBUH) confirmed that He (PBUH) would recite Surat Alfatihah and a Surah of the Quran in the Dhuhr and Asr prayers just as He would recite in the Maghrib, Ishaa, and Fajr prayers, as Abu Qatadah reported: "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) led us in prayer and recited in the first two Rak'ahs of the Dhuhr (Noon) and Asr (Afternoon) prayers Surat Alfatihah and two other Surahs, and He would sometimes recite loud enough for us the verses, and He would prolong the first Rak'ah of Dhuhr prayer more than the second, and He acted similarly in the morning prayer", and in another narration of Abu Qatadah also: "He (PBUH) would recite in the last two Rak'ahs Surat Alfatihah" (Sahih Muslim 451 a,b).
So reciting a Surah or some verses of the Holy Quran after Surat Alfatihah is a confirmed Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Although the majority of scholars said that reciting after Alfatihah is a Sunnah and omitting it does not invalidate the prayer, similarly, the prayer is not invalidated if a person recites some verses of the Quran after Surat Alfatihah in the third or fourth Rak'ah, but it is best to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) because He said in narration of Abu Sulaiman and Malik bin Huwairith: "And Offer your prayers in the way you saw Me offering My prayers" (Sahih Albukhari 6008), so below are seven short Surahs of the Holy Quran that are easy for the beginners to memorize.
