Why should we memorize the Names of Allah?.

 Allah is the name of the lord, the Exalted, it is said that "Allah" is the greatest name of Allah, because it is referred to when describing Allah by the various attributes, for instance Allah says in Surat Alhashr ayat (22-24):

 He is Allah, besides whom there is no god, the Knower of the unseen and the seen, he is the most Merciful, the most Gracious, He is Allah, besides whom there is no God, the Sovereign, the Holy, the One free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over his creatures, the Almighty, the Compeller , the Supreme , Glory to be Allah, High is He above all that they associate as partners with Him, He is Allah the Creator, the Inventor, the Originator of shapes, to Him belong the best names, His purity is proclaimed by all that is in the heavens and the earth, and He is Almighty, the Wise.

 Also Allah Azza wa Galla says in Surat Alesra'a aya (110): say "O Muhammad" call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful, whichever name you call to Him belong the best names and in Surat Ala'araf aya (180) He says: "and to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them.      

 We are called to preserve the Names of Allah or to count them according to the Hadith of our Prophet in narration of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allah said: "indeed, Allah has ninety-nine names, whoever memorizes them shall enter paradise".
