Allah in no need of having an associate |
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him) said:
Allah (glorified and exalted be He) said: I am so Self-Sufficient that I am in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else's sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me.
It was related by Muslim (also by Ibn Majah).
Commentary:
Disbelieve or associating a partner with Allah is the most great sin, and Allah does not forgive that sin for He has said in Surat Alnesa'a Aya 48: surely, Allah does not forgive that a partner be associated with Him, and forgives anything short of that for whomsoever He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has tailored a great sin.
When Ibn Mas'ud asked the prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him, which is the greatest sin?, He said that you make a rival (partner) with Allah, while He alone created you.
Associating a partner with Allah has many forms, that the person believe that anyone or anything (person, animal, thing) other than Allah has the all knowledge, or can give benefit or make harm.
Only Allah Azza wa Galla is the All-knowing and the Omniscient of every thing concerning this world (past, present, future), and He is the Benefactor, the Source of Good, and the Destressor.
