Mercy over wrath

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said:

When Allah decreed the creation He pledged himself by writing in his book which is laid down with him: my mercy prevails over my wrath.

It was related by Muslim, also by Bukhari, Anasa'i, and Ibn Majah.

Commentary:

The mercy of Allah has been mentioned in many verses of the Holly Quran, such as Surat Ala'raf ayat (56, 156), where Allah,  Almighty, states that his mercy is near and close to the righteous-doers, and His mercy encompasses every thing, and He will ordain it to for those who do good deeds and guard against evil, and who give Zakat (charity), and those who believe in his massage.

So the mercy of Allah Azza wa Galla is depends on the good and righteous deeds, and one's misdeeds can excluded him from the mercy of Allah. Being good in deeds and obeying Allah is necessary to earn his mercy.

So we mustn't lose hope of the mercy of our lord even we have make misdeed and sins, for Allah has said to his Messenger: tell my servant that I am the Most-forgiving, the Most-Merciful, and My punishment is the painful punishment.

This means that we must be in hope for Allah's mercy and in fear of his punishment and to be away from sins, but if we have already fallen in misdeeds and evil, the first thing to do is to repent and ask forgiveness from Allah, and the most superior way of asking forgiveness from Allah from here.
