Simplified interpretation:

Surat Alkafirun (the disbelievers) is a statement from Allah's Messenger (PBUH) to the disbelievers of Quraish, where Allah Almighty commanded His Messenger to disavow from the religion of the disbelievers and disavow their deeds.

It was said that there is a specifically cause of the revelation of this Surah, where the polytheists of Mecca invited the Messenger of Allah to worship their idols for a year, and they would in turn worship His God (Allah) for a year.

Quraish and other Arab tribes had many idols to worship, but Allah has mentioned the most important three ones in Surat Alnajm Ayat (19-20) saying: {So Have you seen Al-Lat and Al-Uzza?, And Manat, the third, the other?}, So they worshipped the Lat, the Uzza, and the Manat and built houses for them.

In addition to proposing the exchange of the worship with the prophet (PBUH), they asked Him not to mention their gods badly, so the decisive answer came from Allah regarding the present and the future state of worship for both parties.

As for the present state of worship, Allah says in the first three verses (1-3)  "Say O disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship, nor are you worshippers of what I worship", that is,  Allah's Messenger said that He does not worship what they worship, and on the other hand they do not worship Allah, the One.

The future state of worship was mentioned in the next two verses (4,5) "Nor are you worshippers of what I worship, nor will you be worshippers of what I worship", that is, Allah commanded His Messenger (PBUH) to assure them said that He will not worship their Gods nor will they worship Allah

Based on both cases! The prophet (PBUH) said to them in the last verse (6) "For you is your religion, and for Me is My religion". The word religion has many interpretations, Some commentators took the original sense of the word and said that it refers to the worship of Allah, and to the worship of their idols, and the second group said that it refers to the deeds of the Prophet (PBUH) and their deeds, while the others said that it refers to the recompense in the Hereafter for both parties.

No one Knows its interpretation except Allah
